Irene Moran (1938-2021)
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Irene went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2021. She was born on July 28th in 1938 to her parents Santos and Senovia Valadez. Irene loved her family and spent many years in Alturas, California where most will know her for Morans' Bootery that opened in 1976 before coming to Houston, TX. where she was born and raised and could spend her final years surrounded by her loved ones. She loved the holidays as well as the many opportunities to spend time with her family. Her most cherished gifts to her family are the legacies of the many blankets, pillows, all the laughter and love she gave. She never knew a stranger and had a smile that would light up a room.
She was a Christian woman and enjoyed her times with others in the faith. When her health declined, making travel difficult, she would watch Sunday morning services and listen to the message. Often times she would discuss the message with the family. She never lost touch with the Lord and this kept her strong during the most difficult times.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her son Mario, and sisters, Mary Rizo, Gloria Tervino, and her grandson Jonathan “Tony” Andrade.
She is survived by children, Nick Andrade of Houston, TX; Martin Andrade of Michigan; Joyce Geneau of Houston, TX; Evelyn Garza, of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren and 16 amazing great grandchildren; sisters, Janie Leal of Pasadena,TX; Theresa Malone of Pasadena,TX; and Marylou Gonzales of Houston, TX and brother, Victor Nilo of Houston, Texas
As the family remembers Irene, the writings of Paul in his letter to the Romans ch 12 verse 11-12 comes to mind:
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord, Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer, share with God’s people who are in need, practice hospitality.”
