

Celebration of a Beautiful Life
Verlee Henderson Perry and Curtis Andrew welcomed their baby girl, Irma Jean Perry, on January 29, 1949 in Houston, Texas. She was the 4th child of 8 siblings.
Irma attended George Washington Carver High School and graduated in 1967. She attend Prairie View A&M University. She would go on to attend Mansfield Business School where she received an Associate Degree. Irma was a dedicated worker and provided for her family. She was blessed with four beautiful children: Louis Davis, Demetrice Davis, Derrick Davis and Shanta Washington. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking, traveling and most of all she enjoyed having family gatherings surrounded by delicious food.
Irma accepted Christ at an early age. She attended First Brook Cedron Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B. Legge and Pastor E. J. Nickerson. In February 2006, she became a member of Overcomers Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Anthony Ray Perry where she was an active member until she became ill.
In the early 1980s she was employed with Texas Instruments for 5 years until they closed. She then held a long career in Aldine Independent School District where she served for 25 years. She started working in food service and later moved to transportation. Irma retired in 2011 to take care of her late mother. For many years throughout her career, she worked for Educare Community Living.
God’s angels were awaiting Irma with open arms as she took her last breath on Friday, January 31, 2025. Preceding her in death were her son, Louis Davis; mother, Verlee Henderson; beloved sister, Lavon Crozier; brothers, Howard and Frank Perry.
Irma leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: her daughter, Demetrice Davis (Glenn); son, Derrick Davis (Andrea); daughter, Shanta Washington (Jonah); siblings, Charles Perry (Deandrea), Dayle Perry (Brenda), Anthony Perry (Dassina); and beloved sister, Beverly Bennett. She has 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation for Irma will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater Zion Baptist Church, 1620 Dolly Wright Street, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, . The committal will follow Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 West Montgomery Rd., Houston, TX 77088.
