Irma Jean Abram Green, a loving and strong soul, brought life to this world with her arrival on the beautiful day of November 29, 1948. She was born in Houston, Texas the third child to the proud parents, Reverend Iman and Josie Abram.
Irma attended school in the Houston Acres Homes area during her childhood. Later the family moved to the Houston Fairbanks Area to the Community of Carverdale. There she would Graduate from Carverdale High School class of 1967. During those years some lifelong friendships were gained many that still exist today. Included in those friendships was Mr. Sam Green her high school sweetheart. On October 5, 1968 they united in marriage. Their union was blessed with three sons: Rodney Charles, Keith Houston and Patrick Wayne.
Irma accepted Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior at an early age. She loved to sing in church and play the tambourine. As a young lady she would lead the Sunday school service at her father’s church, Humble Way Church of God in Christ. Irma would become a member of The New Rock of Salvation Holiness Church located in Kashmere Gardens where she faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop H. M. Bolden. With her strong Christian Faith, Irma always knew ALL things were possible thru God, which helped to keep a smile on her face.
Irma worked many jobs in her life. From Hardy Shoe Store, Trailways Bus Station and lastly the Dept. of Correction (TDC) where she retired early at the age of 54. She also had many hobbies to include: Cooking, Baking, Barbecuing, making preserves and pickles, gardening, sewing, playing the Piano and giving everyone a funny nickname. One of her biggest passions was reading. From the Bible to a good novel, Irma loved to read everything she could get her hands on. She was also very adamant about keeping family together. Irma was an inspiration to her family and friends. Her wisdom, knowledge and truthful counsel was a blessing to many. Her strength was an example to all. Never complaining, but always willing to offer a comical, thoughtful jester instead.
On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Irma Jean was called home. She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Iman and Josie Abram, Husband Sam Green, Brother Iman Abram Jr, two sisters Josephine Moore and Janice Citizen and grandson Chrystopher Green.
Irma leaves to cherish her memory three sons Rodney (Meshalle), Keith (Deequeta) and Patrick (Evelyn). One sister Nadine Adams, six grandchildren Caleb, Kelton, Kyle, Kayla, Caitlyn and Lauren. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
