Jack Joseph Horwath, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on August 9, 2019 after a brief but courageous battle with stage four brain cancer.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 1950. Jack enlisted in the Army Reserves after high school and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He then moved to Tomball, Texas in 1977 where he later attended the University of Houston and received his Master of Business Administration.

His children were his greatest treasures. He devoted his time to participating in their interests, including coaching t-ball and soccer, Scouts, and other activities. Jack took pride in supporting his family’s endeavors, no matter what they were. He enjoyed trips with his wife and family exploring the beauty of the great state of Texas, including camping and hiking excursions from Big Bend to the Texas Gulf Coast.

Jack enjoyed golfing and closely followed the Houston Astros, Texans, and Rockets but never lost his love for his hometown team the Green Bay Packers.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother Rose and sister Gerry. He is survived by his loving wife Lauri; son Jack Justin Horwath and wife Kathryne; daughter Hope Stelly and husband Cameron.

He was well known for cherishing the family’s many dogs & cats over the years, as well as any other creatures he met along the way. He never met a stranger, whether person or animal. Love was his greatest gift.

I met Jack in the Army Reserves. We were both from the southside of Milwaukee and had some things in common. We became fast friends and socialized with our girlfriends at Brewer games, concerts, card games and dinners. Jack encouraged me to apply for work at GE Medical Systems where I spent my working career. He also stood up in our wedding party and is godfather to our son, Thomas. We felt bad when Jack had to move for his career but that was a gain for Texas. Life has it's twists and turns.
Condolences to Lauri, J. Justin, Hope, family and friends. We will keep Jacks memory in our hearts. John and Janie
