

Jack Everett Lawson, 83, a Godly and loving husband, father, brother and uncle passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was born in Throckmorton, Texas on March 25, 1930. He grew up on a farm with his father, C.S. Lawson, his mother, Edna Everett Lawson and six siblings. He attended Howard Payne University where he met his beloved wife, Helen Crenshaw Lawson. They married on July 11, 1953 and celebrated 60 wonderful years this past summer. Jack served in the Army from 1953 - 1955 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Manhattan, Kansas at Ft. Riley.
During his professional career as an accountant, he worked at Pan American Oil and Gas Company, Mechanical Specialties, Inc., and Wilson Stationery and Printing. In his later years, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own business, Lawson Printing.
As one of his granddaughter's recently said, Jack served Jesus Christ first, his family second, others third and himself last. He was an active member of Garden Oaks Baptist Church for 30 years during which time he taught Sunday School and served on various committees including Chairman of the Deacons. He attended Second Baptist Church for 27 years where he was actively involved in The Encouragers Bible Class. In his last years, he was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands. Over the years, Jack was actively involved in The Optimist Club and The Rotary Club where he served as a president.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; his son, David Lawson and wife, Marilyn of Colleyville, Texas; his daughter, Linda Lawson Philpot and husband, Michael of Montgomery, Texas; six grandchildren: Lauren Lawson Holmes and husband, Brad of Germantown, Maryland; Daniel Lawson and wife Rebekah of Euless, Texas; Leigha Lawson of Houston, Kristin Chapman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jonathan David Philpot of Houston, Texas and Emily Philpot of Ruston, Louisiana. He also had three beautiful great-granddaughters: Jillian, Faith and Anna Holmes. Also two surviving sisters, Sue Carter of Wichita Falls, Texas and Deena Binns of Lindale, Texas.
A memorial service honoring Jack Lawson will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14th at 12:30 p.m. Immediately following, a reception will be held for friends and family. Donations may be made in Jack's memory to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions.
