

Jack Sproul Sherrill, passed away Friday, the 10th of April at home, at the age of 75. He was the son of Guy and Mamie Sherrill, and grew up in Port Arthur, Texas. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School, and then graduated from the University of Texas in 1961, a member of ATO Fraternity. After graduation, Jack entered the Coast Guard, then settled in Houston. In 1966, Jack married Valerie Daunoy Sherrill.
Jack is survived by his wife Valerie; son Russell Sherrill and wife Jill of Houston; daughter Dinah Christiansen and husband Tom of Copenhagen, Denmark; and grandchildren, Luke and Reid Sherrill and June Catherine Christiansen.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 16th of April, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 17th of April, in the Chapel of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where The Rev. Martin J. Bastian, Vice-Rector is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Jack’s memory may be directed to the library fund at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Rd, Houston, TX 77056; The Blue Bird Circle, Attn: Treasurer, 615 West Alabama St., Houston, TX 77006; or to the charity of one’s choice.
