I am so sorry to hear of Jackie's passing.  I hadn't talked to her in many years, but have fond memories of her when I was growing up and visiting their home in Hempstead.  I always appreciated that she kept up with my Mom and talked to her often up until the time of my Mom's death.  Ron, Todd and Rhonda as well as her extended family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Jackie & I were suite mates at Sam Houson.  She was so sweet & friendly & I just loved knowing her.  She will be truly missed.

What our mother meant to us:  

She gave us our love of food and cooking, but as a quirk, she would never sit and eat with us.  Just like her mother before her, she enjoyed watching us eat and enjoying each other's company.
In fact, she created cook books for Todd, Rhonda and her brother David.  This was not just a few recipes thrown together but a but a 6-month project resulting in a 3 binder full of thousands of recipes.  This was in 1999 and we still use them today!

She was very social and loved to laugh and have fun around people. One of her favorite things to do was to entertain.  She would spend hours planning and cooking for a gathering.  One of her favorite occasions was our annual Christmas eve party.  Thrown for family and close friends who did not travel home for Christmas.  She wanted these friends to have some place to go in order to be around loved ones during this time of year, this has been going on for 45+ years.  

She loved her grandkids.  She looked for things that made the grandkids happy and when she figured it out she would do everything in her power to make sure they had it.  Weather is was Barbie dolls for Kennedy and Bailey or making sure Abigail got her special crab leg dinners, she would make sure every need was met. 

And no matter how old the grandkids were, she made sure every grandkid received new pajamas for Christmas!  


She loved to relax around the water.   Either on a boat on a dock, she found peace and tranquility at the lake.  

She taught Todd to appreciate gardening and flowers.  From our childhood as cheap labor working in the backyard, up to today in working on his own landscape and vegetable garden.  

She loved to sew for her daughter Rhonda.  She made clothes for Rhonda and her grandchildren.  In order to avoid, the homemade look, she even sewed tags on the inside to the clothes like it was bought from the store. 

She was fiercely protective mamma bear intent on protecting the people she loved from the world.  

Jackie was always someone you could call on if you were in need.  She helped her brother David through many challenges in his life.  As a single dad, she took a big role with his kids (Brittany and Travis) when they were younger and worried about them as if they were her own.   

Jackie was also very civic minded and liked to get involved.  She began attending her neighborhood Home Owner's Association meetings and before long, she was president of the organization.  She served in that capacity for a few years.

Jackie was a co-worker with me at Honeywell and I remember her well as a  friend and dedicated employee. Everyone loved Jackie.Thank you for sharing her memory with her life story in pictures. She was as beautiful as I remember her. I know her family will miss her and I send my condolences to you.
