James Arthur Almendarez beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend and friend, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 25. Though his life was far too short, James filled his years with love, creativity, and deep devotion to those he held close.
James was born on July 13, 2000, in Houston, Texas, to Arthur Almendarez and the late Celia Figueroa Almendarez – lovingly known as their “angel”. From an early age, James was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and quiet strength. He had a profound love for animals, an artistic soul expressed through drawing, and a curiosity about the world that fueled his love of travel. Above all else, James treasured his family and the relationships that shaped his life.
James also had a deep love for music and found great joy in playing his guitar. Music was one of the ways he expressed himself most fully, and he shared this passion freely with others. Through music, James brought people together, creating moments of connection, comfort, and joy. In this way—and in countless others—James helped shape the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impression on his family and friends.
James shared a close and meaningful bond with his little brother, William, and carried with him the enduring love and example of his mother, Celia, whose strength, faith, and devotion to family continued to guide him throughout his life. He was deeply loved by his father, Arthur, and found happiness and companionship with his girlfriend, Ani Gutierrez, who stood by his side with love and support.
James will be remembered for his warmth, creativity, and compassion, as well as for the quiet way he made those around him feel seen and cared for. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and love, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved mother, Celia Figueroa Almendarez.
