James (Jamie) Bowman of Houston, Texas passed away at the age of 90 on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Richard A. Anderson Texas State Veteran’s Home in Houston.

James was born in Alleene, Arkansas to Julius and Leila Bowman. After graduation in the class of 1947 In Foreman, Arkansas, he attended the University of Arkansas and the Texarkana Jr. College in Texarkana, Texas. He then proudly served his country in the army during the Korean War as a paratrooper that, as he amusingly wrote to his parents, kept falling into trees. He was also an avid reader and loved sports, especially football and baseball. The latter he coached for his son, Jimmy, and his nephews, Mike Jackson and Darrell Fox, as they grew up. He liked fishing, hunting and he was a great cook, famous for his Southern fried chicken, barbecue, and chili that he used fresh vegetables from his garden to make.

James was hired as an Operating Engineer at Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. He worked there for twenty years before he entered into real estate, building houses and owning a convenience store until he retired. During retirement, he and Georgia moved to Pearland, Texas to be closer to their daughter, Sherri Sagarnaga, and their grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Zane Bowman and Ryman Bowman; sister-in-law Bobbie Bowman; sister-in-law Joyce Fontenot; sister-in-law Floyce Haggard; and brother-in-law Grady Fox.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Bowman of Houston, Texas; daughter Sherri Sagarnaga of Houston, Texas and son James P. (Jimmy) Bowman Jr. (Carolyn) of Friendswood, Texas; grandchildren, Carli Bolden (Brooks) and Nicole and Lauren Sagarnaga; great grandchildren, Ella, Mia, Josiah, Judah and Lola Bolden; brother-in-law E.E. (Earl) Fox Jr. of Brazoria, Texas; sister-in-law Bobbie Jean Bowman of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Dear Georgia, Sherri, Carli, Nicole and Lauren. We are saddened by the passing a beautiful soul and send you our deepest condolences. We will always remember Jaime with his kindness, sense of humor, and love of his family. Although we our "in-laws", he was family to us and he and Georgia always welcomed us as family too. Our hearts are broken but we also praise the Lord that he is at peace and finally home in God's promised Kingdom. Love to you all, Linda, Patrick, Natalie, Shaun, David, Chelsea and Ace.
