Jim was born on December 11, 1932 in Itasca, Texas. He attended school in Itasca and then went on to earn a BS in Accounting from North Texas State College. Following graduation Jim spent two years serving our country in the United States Navy before returning to school to earn his CPA. After 35 years of dedicated service, Jim retired from Exxon in 1995. Jim was a volunteer for many years with the Human Resources Development Foundation Hospitality Apartments, serving family members of patients in the Houston Medical Center. He was also deacon at Houston's Second Baptist Church West Campus where he faithfully served his church family and his Lord Jesus. He especially cherished the time spent with his friends in Higher Ground and Ironmen Bible study classes.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Everett Calfee and Gladys Stagner Calfee, brother, B.J. Calfee and his wife, Beth. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jan “Sug” Calfee; sons, Jay Calfee and his wife, Leslie Winik of Arlington, VA, David Calfee and his wife, Courtney, of Katy, Texas, and W. Joe Calfee and his wife, Jennifer, of Denton, Texas; sister, Mary Calfee Drye of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Katelyn, Becca, Grant, Isaiah, and Geoffrey Calfee; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
