

James Eugene (Jim) Froelich, Jr., Texas oilman, 85 departed to join Frances (Honey), his wife of 60 years, in heaven - and what a joyous reunion it must be! Mr. Froelich was preceded in death by Frances as well as his parents James Eugene Froelich, Sr. and Eleanor Buck Froelich, and sister Eleanor Bonewitz. He is survived by three loving children and their spouses Ann and Keith Bice, James and Deidre Froelich, and Kelly and Lori Froelich, their "Sister-cousin" Amy Robinson as well as his six grand children, David Zillweger and his child Lux, James Clifford "J.C." Froelich, Deidre Anne Froelich, Nicole and Morgan Priolo and their children Joshua and Bella, Will and Megan Froelich and their children Luke and Samuel, Lindsey and Connor Humphrey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was a Houston area resident for more than 70 years. He attended Texas A&M University but then met the magical love of his life, Frances Bell, and transferred to the University of Houston where he received a degree in geophysics and was a member of Kappa Delta Kappa Fraternity. Jim worked for the the Superior Oil Company for 27 years where he became Chief Geophysicist and later, a Vice-president of Mobile Oil when they acquired Superior. He formed a private exploration and production Company, Pure Energy, in 1980.
He was a civic leader wherever he resided starting in Sharpstown, Texas then later in Hedwig Village, Tx. where he served as City Councilman. He was the President of the Houston Geophysical Society multiple times, was a member of petroleum club of Houston, the society of exploration geophysicists for over 50 years, Houston geophysical society, and Houston geological Society.
His involvement in multiple genealogical Society's included the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Confederacy, Presidential Families of the U.S. (Jim boasted proven consanguinity with 8 U.S. Presidents including the two Bush's and Franklin Roosevelt), Jamestown society, Magna Carta Barons of America and, and Americans of Royal dissent. He served as the Houston Confederate Ball Chairman twice.
Jim loved his job, travel, and raising cattle in Columbus, Texas. He and Frances drove their motor home across every U.S. state except Hawaii, and traveled to 87 foreign countries. However, he and Honey devoted most of their later lives to raising children, grand children and other family and to the needs of their extended family and friends. They were truly blessed.
