James Lawrence Gulley Sr.

James Lawrence Gulley, Senior, the last-born son of five to Winchester and Blanche Gulley, was born on August 16, 1938 in Acres Home, Texas.

He attended Highland Heights Elementary and Harper Junior High, both located within the Acres Home community. James worked as an Auto Mechanic, specializing in heavy diesel equipment. He confessed, Jesus Christ at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of EJ Booker, Acres Home.

In December of 1958, James Gulley, Senior united in holy matrimony to Georgia Ann Ross. They were united in marriage for 48 years, until Georgia departed this life on April 2, 2006. To this union, five children were born. On Thursday, August 27, 2026 the Lord called James home.

James was preceded in death by; his wife, Georgia; son, Gordon Paul Gulley; his parents; four brothers, Gordon Paul Gulley, Floyd Chester Gulley, Eugene Gulley and Walter Horace Gulley. He leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter, Jean Gulley Harrison; and three sons, James Gulley, Jr., Don “Donnie” Gulley and Dale Gulley; three daughters-in-law, Mia, Rosalyn and Daiquiri Gulley; nine grandchildren, James “Dion” (Adrienne), Ashley, Tiffany, Don Jr. (Brittany), Seth and Dillan Gulley, Sabas and Loretta “Stormy” Lopez, Damon Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, US, on September 4, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, followed by the Celebration of Life at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088, US, on September 4, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

Committal will take place at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley, Houston, TX 77088, US, on September 4, 2026, from 3:50 pm to 4:30 pm.
