James graduated from Gary Job Corps and earned certifications in forklift operation and warehouse work. He later built a career as an
OTR truck driver with Troy Logistics, where he worked for five years. Becoming a truck driver was a lifelong dream that he proudly fulfilled.
On June 29, 2015, James married the love of his life, Angel Patrice Favors, in Houston, Texas. Together they shared many cherished memories and a deep bond.
James attended N.F.I.S.D. and Sheldon ISD before continuing his education at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas. He was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. W.L. Thorn at St. John Baptist Church. James had an old soul when it came to music and enjoyed listening to classic R&B and country music. He loved football, especially cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and was also a devoted basketball fan who admired LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing recreational basketball, driving semis, and spending time with dogs.
Known for his warm personality and sense of humor, James never met a stranger. He easily made friends wherever he went and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was especially close to his mother and deeply loved his nieces, always showing up for them with care and support.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Angel Hillsman; his maternal grandfather, Allen Parker Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Willie and Jannie Hillsman; and his uncles, Alejandro Parker Sr. and Lawrence Hillsman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Patricia Parker; his father, James Hillsman Sr.; his brother, Keith Parker; his nieces, Keiera (Liam) Parker-Waite, Marguerite, Keona, and Makayla Parker; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Collins; his special cousin, Justin Harper Jr.; his maternal uncle, Allen Parker Jr.; his maternal aunts, Penny, Pam, Kim, and Etta Parker; his great-aunt, Margaret Henry; his paternal uncles, Willie Charles, Don, Calvin, Randy, Sylvester, and Richard Hillsman; his paternal aunts, Joyce, JoAnn, and Janice Hillsman; his father- and mother-in-law, Terry and Juna Williams; his sister-in-law, Crystal Favors; his brother-in-law, John Favors; his godson, DaeShawn Smith; his goddaughter, Keona Parker; his godparents, Shirley Collins and Allen Parker Jr.; and a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
The family extends special thanks to John and Justine at Troy Logistics Inc., Aunt Henrietta Parker, and the ICU staff at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital for their care, support, and kindness during this difficult time. James will be remembered for his loving heart, loyal spirit, infectious personality, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
