He was my Grandpa and he always spoiled me and my sister when we came to visit. My mom jokes that he loved us more than he loved his kids. He gave the best hugs and i would do anything to see him again. If it wasn't for him I probably not like fishing and having fires in the fire pit in the backyard he was incredible and special and i will miss him until the day i die and I'm in heaven with him. I miss you Grandpa.

I am very late learning of Jim's death, but I am so sorry about your loss. I worked for Jim two long stretches in HISD and he was a great boss, and a very great boon to the Department of Library Services in HISD.

Not to mention that he was a lot of fun to be around---I am so sorry that you have lost him.

I am going to miss Jim so much. He was a great boss and a good friend. He worked with Superintendent Rod Paige to transform the libraries of HISD. He made a difference and was always talking about the students and their needs. I will always think of Jim as a fabulous entertainer and consummate host. I will treasure the memory of our Thanksgiving dinners at Doris Miller Center. He loved his family and adored those precious grandkids. My thoughts and prayers will be forever with his family.

I was accepted in Library A.C.P. in H.I.S.D. under Jim's leadership. While working as school librarian in H.I.S.D., I was inspired by Jim's activism for school libraries.
May the family find comfort in knowing the lives that Jim touched and changed. I pray that God comforts the family with peace.

My prayers go out to Jim's family. He was a very dear friend to my father, Arnie. He always had a smile on his face and throughly enjoyed hanging out with my children, Landon and Natalia. He will be deeply missed.

Jim touched many lives and many students were the beneficiaries of his efforts to make HISD libraries the hub of the school. I enjoyed having Jim as the manager of Library Services when I worked in Houston. My sympathies to his family.

I loved Jim. At one time or another I was his coworker, boss and always his friend. Jim loved his family, and talked about them often, always with a twinkle in his eyes. I will miss him and pray that you can find comfort in your memories of Jim.
