He was born on the 28th of September 1936, in Hunstville, and spent the majority of his life in Houston. He graduated from Steven F. Austin High School in Houston in 1954 and from The University of Texas at Austin with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1959. Jim spent his professional life traveling all over the world in the Oil and Gas Industry with Conoco, Houston Oil and Minerals, Mitchell Energy, Mesa Petroleum, Petrotex Drilling Company, and Swift Energy.
He led a very Christian life and was devoted to his family and their many friends. He was a member of Second Baptist Church for 40 years. Jim enjoyed traveling the world for business and pleasure with his wife and children, as well as watching Longhorn football.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Judy Stewart; their three daughters and their husbands, Sharyn and Dan Robinson, Sasan and Alton Cook and Pam and Bubba Schmidt; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson, Emily Robinson, Christian Schmidt and Mackenzie Schmidt.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 17th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
