

James Eugene Levicki, age 67, of Houston, passed on peacefully at home Thursday evening, the 20th of January 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim was a graduate of Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. He served as an Officer in the Vietnam War and received four medals for meritorious service, including a Presidential Unit Citation.
A successful Executive in the instrumentation field, Jim was held in the highest regard for his leadership, persistence and teamwork. He retired from Puffer Sweiven in December of 2007.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice Levicki; and by his brother, Johnny Levicki.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Nancy; his daughters, Pamela and Lauren; and by his brother, Tom Levicki. He will be sorely missed by his extended family: sisters-in-law Bette Taylor of El Paso, Pat McCracken and husband Jay of Reston Virginia, and Carol Kohl and husband Richard of Seattle, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim lived his life with integrity, always a gentleman, and ever a teacher and role model to all who knew him.
The family is grateful to Dr. Douglas Evans, of the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Dr. Gauri Varadhachary, of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, for their loving care. Additionally, the family desires to express their appreciation to Houston Hospice for their compassion.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Jim from five o'clock in the afternoon until half-past seven o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 28th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at five o'clock and an evening service of remembrance is to commence at seven o'clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 29th of January, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Rossi, Pastor, and the Rev. Andrew "Drew" Wood, Pastor of Sugar Land's St. Laurence Catholic Church, are to serve as concelebrants. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent Parish Life Center.
Serving as honorary pallbearers during Saturday's service are Roger Anderson of Houston, Rick Bailey of Houston, Eric Blumrosen of Houston, Doug Dalton of Houston, Henry Dean of Houston, Wolf Hengst of New York City, Neal Kohl of Austin, Richard Kohl of Seattle, Washington, Jimmy Levicki of Cary, Illinois, Mike Levicki of Annapolis, Maryland, Tom Levicki of Summerfield, Florida, Robert Ligon of Houston, Rock Morille of Houston, Rick Murphy of Irvine, California, John Platt of Houston, Steve Rice of Houston, Tom Rollins of Houston, Joe Taylor of Denver, Colorado, and Ty Whitcomb of Houston.
On Monday, the 31st of January, the family is to gather for a private inurnment and Rite of Committal at the Houston National Cemetery, where an Honor Guard from the U.S. Army is to render military honors.
A man committed to community service, Jim was the constant source of knowledge and support to Nancy in the founding and development of Dress for Success Houston.
