James E. (Jimmie) Martin, 79, of Houston, Texas passed away June 22, 2019. He was born in Utica, Mississippi on August 15, 1939. James graduated from C.E. King High School in 1957. His occupation was Journeyman Iron Worker for Local 84. James passion was singing and playing guitar. In his early years he would perform in a band at school as well as a shop leader. He was a star football player and all around athlete.

He is preceded in death by: son Wayne Elliot Martin, parents Charles and Tassie Martin, sister Norma Aleen Martin Baker and brother Tommie Martin.

He is survived by his sister Jean Martin Wright; children: James E Martin and Kim, Dorsille Martin Morsy and Mike; grandchild Michael Martin; nieces and nephews: David Baker, Delores Baker Zogg, Michelle Wright Talbot, Wade Martin, Rusty Martin; special friend Donna Lyon and numerous extended family and friends.

Pallbearers: Michael Martin, Brad Martin, Wade Martin, Rusty Martin, Mike Morsy and James Martin

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. The funeral will be Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Family Chapel at Brookside with the interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
