James Eldwood May

James Eldwood May, was born in Dallas, Texas to the blessed union of Emmanuel May, and the late Dorothy Mae Simpson on November 7, 1960, he’s the second child amongst his siblings.

James was educated in the Houston Independent School District. He was small in stature, but had a very big heart, and was fearless. He always dressed like he just stepped out of GQ magazine. James had countless skills and was employed with several employers over his life time. Friendly Chevrolet in Dallas; Walgreens assistant store manager in Houston; Zachary manufacture company in Houston, and a Chef at Dave and Busters and Olive Garden. James was a serious grill-master, and had a fond passion for playing pool and dancing. He mastered his pool game and traveled to many tournaments across the state of Texas.

James and his lovely wife Teryl (T-Baby) of 21 years had a blended family of 5 girls. Daughter Demitric (Meme) preceded him in death. He was a true “girl dad”, a great father and husband.

On July 9, 2022, God dispatched the Angel of death to summons James to his heavenly home. James has played his last game of pool on his earthly home. Imagine him chalking up his cue stick and calling his final shot, “eight ball heavens stairway, corner pocket”. As he makes the successful shot the gates of heaven opened, James climbed the stairway and entered into his eternal home.

James Eldwood May will be profoundly and lovingly remembered by his wife Teryl of Houston Texas, and his girls Ashley, Africia (Maurice), Thecia, and, Sierra of Houston Texas. His father Emmanuel May (Dorothy) of Dallas, Texas. His siblings Joe Mac May (Sharon) of Marshall, Texas; Victoria May (Kim) of Houston, Texas; Nelson May of Houston, Texas; Djuana Rayford (Tracy) of Dallas, Texas; Sabrina Rayford of Dallas, Texas; Anthony Rayford (Teresa) of Dallas, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who are just like flowers: colorful, plentiful, and beloved.
