

He confessed at an early age to Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior under the leadership of the late Franklin D. Anderson of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
He graduated from Independence High School then moved to Houston where he met Oretha Marie Culbert & later joined in holy matrimony on March 9, 1957. To this union nine children were born.
James worked for Houston Lighting & Power Co. for 31 years until retirement.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 64 yrs. Oretha Marie Moore, his children Bobbie (Theddeus, deceased) Durham, Marilyn (Larry, deceased) Williams, Ronald (Jackie), Alecia (Milton) Robinson, Terrance (Dorthy), Rettina (Henry) Williams, Betzabe (James “Bug” deceased), Laricia(Richard) Clark, and Erinn(Monica); one brother-in-law, Austin (Bob) Culbert; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finnie & Elizabeth Moore, brothers & sisters, one son James Earl Jr, one grandson Ronald James Randolph & one great-grandson Kalieb Tirrell Holmes.
