James C. Muir was born on September 8, 1946, in Farmington, Michigan. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the Army after a distinguished career. James was married to Janet A. Muir for 62 wonderful years (Janet passed away in January 2025). He enjoyed working on his farm, with a special passion for caring for his alpacas.
His favorite bird was the cardinal, and he loved spending time in his chair, watching the red birds fly freely around him.
James has one living son, Joseph Muir, and he mourned the loss of another son, James Muir.
He was also blessed with several grandchildren: Blake Muir, Bishop Muir, Matthew Muir, Kristen Allen, and Heather Zamudio. Additionally, James had six great-grandchildren: Aiden, Keegan, Cloe, Emma, Elijah, and Hajlie.
Funeral service Thursday, September 25, 2025, 11am at Hutchinson Funeral Home, 6051 E. Seven Mile Road, Detroit, Michigan 48234. Family will receive friends 10 am until time of service.
Interment Friday, September 26, 2025, 1:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan, 48442
