Bret graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, and received an associates degree from Lee College. He met Pamela Ensminger in Houston, Texas, and they had their son, James Avery Phillips, on December 3rd, 2004. Bret worked as a principal buyer at South Shore Skate and Surf Distribution for over 20 years. He was affiliated with the organization “Silly Pink Bunnies”, a brute and petrifying group who shared stories of handrails and curb skating, where he was known by the alias of “Don Naps”. He had a passion for skateboarding, fishing, spending time with his son, and sharing good times with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Shirley Ann Phillips, as well as his grandparents, Lester and Francis Ogletree. He is survived by his son, James Avery Phillips. May his cast be long, line never tangled, and the fish always biting.
