

James “Jim” McGeery Seamans, 90, passed away May 7, 2013. Born in Casper, Wyoming December 27, 1922 to the late Irene Alberta Seamans and Walter Louis Seamans, he is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Wyoma “Omey” Seamans, three daughters, Carol Ann Sado of Billings, Montana, Linda Sue Cavin of Baton rouge, Louisiana, and Sandra Kay Seamans of Sugar Land, Texas, sons-in-laws Steven J. Sado of Billings, Steven E. Cavin of Baton Rouge, granddaughter, Lindsay Prust of Baton Rouge and one great grandson, Maddock Prust. He is survived by one sister, Lenore Levin of Paso Robles, California. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He learned furniture making from his uncle and practiced it as hobby throughout his lifetime. He volunteered for military service in 1942 during WWII and spent four years in the army where he was a First Lt. commanding an Intelligence and Reconnaissance Unit. He was employed by Texaco for 36 years and retired in 1986 as a Senior Vice President in charge of Refining, Marketing, Pipelines and Process Research in the United States. He served as a Director of the Petroleum Institute, the National Refiners Association and ColTexo Corporation of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also served as a director and chairman of the board of Whitney Supply in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim served as an “Executive Reservist” for the Department of Defense with responsibilities for managing energy and fuel supplies in the southern US region in the event of a national emergency. Following his retirement, the Department of Energy appointed him chairman of a study for the US refining industry to determine the industry’s ability to meet fuel and energy demands in the time of national emergencies. In recent years, Jim and Omey found a new love in their life- ballroom dancing. Jim was a long time member of the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston.
A funeral service will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., the family will receive guests prior at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
