
James (Jim) Dyer Tabor, age 61, passed away September 21, 2015 at Memorial Hermann Hospital from a brief illness. Jim was born in El Dorado, AR on July 7, 1954 to James and O’Nolda Tabor. He made a profession of faith as a young boy and embraced the Christian Faith as an adult. Jim had many fond memories of his days at Ouachita Baptist University and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1976. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers for 4 years. Jim moved to Houston, TX to begin many professional careers. He worked as a Chemist for Texaco and Mathison Gas and received his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in 1988. Following his love for education, he graduated from Houston Community College in 1999 with a degree in nursing. Jim had a 10 year career as a Nurse working at Texas Children’s Hospital and as a Hospice Nurse. His latest adventure was being self employed as a massage therapist. Jim loved his family especially all his nieces, nephews and cousins. He also loved outdoor activities; reading, exercising and history. Jim was a soft spoken, kind hearted, gentle soul that was taken from us too soon. He is survived by his parents: James and O’nolda Tabor; sister, Jan Tabor Peeples (Wayne) of Smackover, AR; and Joni Tabor Louis (Andy) of Coppell, TX; nieces and nephews: Heather Peeples Wolfe and Matthew Peeples of Smackover, Lauren Louis and Drew Louis of Coppell, TX. He also had a large extended family of aunts, uncles and many cousins. Service plans will be announced at a later date.
