

Jamie Jean Harper of Houston, TX peacefully departed this life on April 21st, 2026, at the age of 79. Jamie was born in Houston, TX on January 15th, 1947, to parents James Edward and Thelma Jean Bankston. Jamie was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother and loved her family and friends. She was a devout Christian and dedicated her life to being involved with the Choir at Woodforest Baptist Church and the Foundry Methodist Church. Her favorite time of year was always the Christmas holidays and singing in the Church Christmas Choir programs. Jamie had a successful career as an Office Manager with multiple professional practices across Houston. She was one of the pioneers in developing medical coding software for medical professionals, practices, and insurance companies that transitioned the medical industry over to digital. She also taught continuing education classes at San Jacinto Junior College on medical practice coding. She loved being a high school Scarlet, Band, and Baseball Mom with countless hours devoted to those activities.
Jamie is preceded in death by her parents, son Michael James Harper, and Uncle Fred Bankston. She is survived by her husband Walter Harper III, sister Sharon Singleton, Aunt Pauline Bankston, daughter Paula Harper, son and daughter in-law Jon and Grace Harper, grandchildren Kylie Harper, Emily Harper, Kate Harper, numerous nieces and nephews, and lifelong best friend Emily Russell.
