Jana Lynn McIntosh passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 56. A native Houstonian, she was born on the 20th of April, 1961. She attended The Kinkaid School and the University of Houston.
Throughout her life, Jana had a number of interests, including horseback riding, dance, ice skating, cooking, baking, cars, and travel to the Southwest and to the Caribbean. She always looked forward to celebrating life’s milestones and events, and she especially cherished the arrival of the Christmas season. Spending holidays with family and friends were highpoints of her year, and she was overly generous in gift-giving and sharing the holiday spirit.
Jana will always be remembered for her greatest passion – animals. She advocated for animal rights and deeply loved felines large and small. Jana always lovingly referred to her cats as her “kids,” and they were an integral part of her life.
Though she was challenged with health problems for most of her life, Jana always met them head-on with a keen intellect and great determination. Family and friends greatly admired her and were inspired by her attitude that anything could be overcome.
Jana is preceded in death by her father, H.A. “Mac” McIntosh, and her mother, Dr. Audrey Fern Posey McIntosh, and by her beloved Bert, Elliott, and Grettel. Survivors include her brother, Douglass Harlan McIntosh, his wife, Dr. Sheri McIntosh, and their sons, Alexander and William, as well as her beloved Rufus. Jana is also survived by close friends and family who will miss her and her spirit very much.
Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Jana are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a Graveside Service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
