Jane Frances White Thompson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died on Thursday, the 5th of August 2021, at the age of 55. She was a native Houstonian, born on the 21st of October 1965, to William Roland White, Jr. and Patricia Spalding White.
Jane was a devoted mother and avid baker. She enjoyed traveling, hosting events and was an entrepreneur at heart. She always saw the opportunities in life and every obstacle was a challenge to be faced head on. You would often find her with a cell phone in hand talking to her friends and family or contributing her time to any charitable cause, as helping others filled her heart with joy. She was also a spiritual woman and constantly prayed for everyone in her life, even those she had just met. No one was a stranger to her and all who knew her will miss her deeply.
After years of encouragement, Jane started her own company called The Great White Chocolate Cheesecake. The company featured an award winning white chocolate cheesecake which she sold at county fairs, rodeos and specialty food markets across the Southwest. She traveled from Colorado to Florida pulling her 16-foot freezer trailer full of cheesecakes, selling out at every event. Affectionately known as “The Cheesecake Lady,” she became well known in the specialty food market. More amazing than her cheesecakes was her ability to sell. Those familiar with The Cheesecake Lady know that she could sell cheesecakes to anybody, whether they wanted one or not.
Approximately ten years ago, Jane was diagnosed with relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis. She fought the crippling disease with courage and bravery, never allowing her debilitating condition to prevent her from accomplishing her goals. In addition to her courage, Jane will be remembered for her love for her family, friends, and always selflessly doing the most for her loved ones. The world is darker without her light in it, but we are comforted knowing that she is now in a better place.
Memories of her legacy will live on for generations to come. She is preceded in death by her father, William Roland White, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Spalding White; her loving husband of 21 years, Joel Charles Thompson; her children (and spouses), Jordan (Dylan), Madison, Savannah and Cole; her stepchildren (and spouses), Allie (Wesley) and Kirk; and one grandchild, Elliott. She is also survived by her brothers (and spouses), Bill (Karen), Roger (Leslie), John; her sister (and spouse), Jenny (Mike), and sister-in-law, Lee; her nieces and nephews (and spouses), Lauren (Drew), Dana, Courtney, Ashley, Kevin (Courtney), Michael, Joe (Kylie), Jay (Victoria), Kelli, Nicholas and Nathan; her Uncles (and spouses), Justin (Gina), Cliff (Bing) and Aunt Chris (Rod); and numerous cousins and extended family members. She is also survived by her two four-legged snuggle partners, Tug and Cash.
A memorial service celebrating her life is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 1oth of August, in our Jasek Chapel, where Fr. Peter Damian of Holy Rosary Catholic Church will officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
Jane requested that everyone wear what makes them happiest, whether that be a little black dress or a colorful get-up. She believed in celebrating life, not mourning death.
If you would like to make a donation in honor of Jane, the family asks that you give to Jane’s memorial campaign at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by visiting https://mssociety.donordrive.com/campaign/Jane-Thompson.
