Jane Doyle Welke, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, the 1st of June 2015, with her daughter by her side. Jane was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the 18th of May 1922, to Arthur and Lydia Koepnick Doyle. She lived most of her life in Milwaukee, until moving to Houston to be with her daughter, Barbara Welke, in 2001.
Jane had a long successful career in the fashion industry, retiring before her move to Houston, but never lost the ability to look absolutely smashing. She was a beautiful person inside and out who was much loved for her zest for life and giving spirit. Jane had an unceasing love for family and for all animals. Her pets were all her special little fur children. I’m sure that Jane is now happily escorting each and every pet who have gone before her, over the “Rainbow Bridge”.
Jane’s family meant the world to her. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Welke and partner Sandra Little; son, John Doyle Welke and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Tara Welke Heller and husband John, John Dunn Welke and wife Kelly; her two very special great-grandchildren, Mollie Jane Heller and Ian Scott Heller; and last, but not least, her beloved dog, Nellie, as well as 2 grand dogs, and one grand-cat. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, John Welke; and sister, Patricia Doyle.
The family would like to thank the loving caregivers from both St. Luke’s Hospital and Brookdale Plaza. Also, a special thank you to her personal caregivers from Post Oak Caregivers Organizations for the loving and compassionate care Jane received from all of you.
The memorial service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 6th of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Dr., in Houston.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Homeless Orphaned Pet Endeavors, www.homelesspets.net; Frisky Paws Rescue, www.frisklypawsrescue.org; or to the animal charity of your choice.
This memorial would not be complete without a special loving thank you to Pat Anderson, an angel in every sense of the word, who spent hours visiting, comforting, and loving mother. Pat brought such light, love, and cheesecake, to mother at a very difficult time. Mother “adopted” Pat as a second daughter and loved her dearly.
