Janice Marie Luza, 85, passed safely into God’s hands on February 20th, 2020. She is survived by her husband Norel, her daughter Rita, her sons Bill and Norel the Younger, and her grandsons Kevin and Lochlan. Janice was born in Oklahoma City to Effie Mae and John Leslie Horne on September 5th, 1934.
Janice and her three siblings grew up in a loving home that doubled as a very successful photography studio. If fact, some of Janice parents’ works are still on public display.
When Janice was 22, she met the man whom she’d eventually marry, and they’d spend the next 63 years together.
In 1972, Janice and her family began their lives as Expats, living and traveling across Europe and S.E. Asia. Janice and her family enjoyed exploring and experiencing the quirky things that each country had to offer. For example, Janice once flew to Rangoon on a junky, twin-prop airplane full of Burmese soldiers and Buddhist Monks and, while in Burma, also had the unique pleasure of rafting down the Irrawaddy River in a native dug-out canoe, whilst having to dodge a Water Buffalo, or two. From London to Singapore, then on to Dubai…Janice was quite the little globe trotter.
Janice was so very fond of caring for animals, and she cared for many: numerous cats, show dogs, parrots, horses, a Tortoise, a Myna bird, as well as, so many others. She even began successful, a one-woman campaign to spay, neuter, and find homes for the numerous stray cats and dogs throughout the neighborhood. Janice endeavored to help ease the pain and suffering of all of God’s critters, and she did!
Yet, even as time took a toll on her earthly body, her wanderlust never abated. She soon became an avid cruise ship adventurer and accrued many, many nautical miles on multiple voyages to Hawaii, to Vancouver, to Panama, and every Caribbean island a person might think of, then round and round again. Janice loved the sea and its meditative quality, ‘twas a quality that she relished, for it brought peace and serenity to her heart & soul. The Luza family is truly heartbroken over the loss of Janice, but, at the same time, they are happy for her, for she has passed into the hands of God…a place of peace, a place of love; a place where God welcomes us all!
We love you, Mom!
