Janie graduated from Crockett High School. She met her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Lee in Houston, TX where they were married on October 11, 1961. Janie had a career in retail sales at Foley’s which later became Macy’s for over 30 years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Huffman, TX and had a passion for creating beautiful handmade crafts for all seasons.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, stepmother, Lois Shanks, and stepbrother, Mike McCloud.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lee Colson, son, Kenneth Glenn Colson and wife Jo Ann Colson, Jeffrey Scott Colson and wife Mary Jane Colson and sister, Dorothy Currie. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Kyle Colson and wife Lori Colson, Kevin Colson, and Kaitlyn Rhodes and husband Matt. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and three nephews.
A visitation for Janie will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church- Huffman, 25503 FM 2100, Huffman, TX 77336. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 25503 FM 2100, Huffman, TX 77336. A burial will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Colson, Kevin Colson, Kaitlyn Rhodes, Matt Rhodes and Gary Currie.
