Jared was born July 7, 1987 in San Antonio, Texas to Sing and Sarah Lim. He graduated from Bentonville, AR High School and the University of Houston. It was in high school that Jared sparked his passion of cooking for others when he began working in hospitality. His time in hospitality continued as he pursued college and led him to friendships across Texas. Jared later found pride, purpose and adventure as he served in the Army National Guard and deployed to Egypt and Kuwait. He continued to see the world by traveling to Japan, Korea and Thailand. Jared was truly a people person and treasured his friendships from his time in both hospitality and the military.
Jared is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Sunny and Betty Wong. He is survived by his parents, sister Jordan, brothers Jonathan and Jason, paternal grandparents Sam and Linda Lock-Lim and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he held dear to him.
Flowers are welcome but we also know that Jared would want to be celebrated by honoring two things that he loved dearly, good food and his dogs, Stella and Kingsford. We encourage you to share a meal with friends or family or donate to Austin Pet Food Bank.
We know that Jared will be deeply missed by so many and that there are endless memories of good times with him held by friends across the world. We ask that you share your favorite memory to be included in a book that will be printed for our family. Whether it's a story, a letter, or captioned photos, we ask that you create a page, or pages, for his loved ones to look back and remember him in an authentic way. Pages can be created until November 19th https://www.newlywords.com/in-memory-of-jared-lim
