

Jean was born on the 18th of July 1929, in Memphis, Tennessee, and was the daughter of Frank T. Seymour and Mary Louise Chaffin Seymour, who predecease her. Her daughter, Judy Cleveland Gugenheim, also predeceases her. Her loving husband, Mimms I. Cleveland survives her. Jean and Mimms shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Emiley Cleveland Daly, son-in-law Robert Daly and granddaughters Caroline and Courtney, of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and daughter Cynthia Cleveland Blackburn, and grandsons Carter and Grayson of Houston, also survive her.
Jean was a 1951 graduate of Birmingham Southern College and served as secretary to the Dean. Following her marriage in 1954, Jean and Mimms resided in Schenectady, New York, where all three of their daughters were born. In 1962, Jean and Mimms relocated to Houston. Jean's service to the Methodist Church was exemplary, serving as secretary to two Methodist Bishops. Additionally, Jean served in a support capacity to the Texas United Methodist College Association for ten years. As a member of First United Methodist Church, Houston, Jean was also among a group of pilgrim members who united to establish and build the First United Methodist Church-Westchase.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff members of the Special Care Unit of the Extended Care Center at Clarewood House for their loving care of Jean.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 19th of September, at First United Methodist Church - Westchase, 10570 Westpark Drive in Houston, where Dr. Paul Clines, Executive Pastor - Westchase Campus, and Rev. Charles Thompson, Executive Pastor - Downtown Campus, are to officiate.
Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Atrium.
Prior to the service the family will have gathered for a private interment service at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
