

SimpsonJean Marie Esson Simpson, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, the 22nd of January 2010.Mrs. Simpson was born the 31st of May 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts. She is survived by her loving daughter, Joan Dunlap and husband, David; sons, David Simpson and wife, Belinda; Ted Simpson and wife, Diane; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Edwin Peter Esson and wife, Victoria; two nieces and a nephew. Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Nancy Carter, and her parents, the late Marie Laban Esson & Edwin Esson. She earned a degree in Liberal Arts from Brown University. After raising her family, Jean earned a 25 year service award from the Texas Employment Commission where she worked in Houston. She loved gardening, needlepoint, enjoyed walking the beaches of Galveston collecting shells and sharks’ teeth, and was an avid reader.A memorial service, to celebrate Jean’s life, is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 28th of January, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Russell J. Levenson, Jr. and the Rev. Martin J. Bastian will officiate.In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Jean Simpson may be directed to VICTORY/ACS, P.O.
