She was born on January 13, 1934, to Mike and Jennie Ferraro. Jeanette met the love of her life, Rowley Hymel Jr, “Sonny”, as a teenager in her hometown of La Place, Louisiana. They later moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised their four children.
Jeanette (affectionately known to many as Maw-Maw) was a devoted homemaker, gifted cook, loving matriarch, and faithful Catholic. Her home was a haven, especially on Friday nights, when she welcomed family with a comforting, home-cooked meals and a room filled with laughter and conversation. Her meals were never measured but crafted from memory, each dish infused with care and warmth. Jeanette and Sonny’s door was always open. She loved playing card games and Yahtzee, and you could often find her sipping a Coca-Cola while watching Days of Our Lives or shopping on QVC (where surprise packages regularly arrived at her doorstep). Jeanette was a huge sports fan, following all of her sons' baseball games, in addition to the Astros games and LSU football.
Jeanette is survived by her children: Patricia (Greg) Sitler, Leonard (Patricia) Hymel, and Thomas Hymel; her grandchildren: Craig (Ana Victoria) Hunt, Abby (Robert) Neal, Michael (Ana) Hymel, Nicole Sitler, Lauren (Thomas) Hymel, Ashley Hymel, and Brooke Hymel; her great-grandchildren: Aidan Hunt, Peyton Neal, and Robert Neal IV"Sonny", and step-granddaughter Stephanie Young.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rowley Hymel Jr.; her daughter, Carrie Hunt; her grandson, Kevin Hunt; and her sisters: Marie Johnson, Francis Montgomery, and Josephine Murray.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her caregivers, Mary, Janet, Julieth, LaToya, Carolina, Clarissa, Sumoria, Jessica, Debra and Sharon for their loving care:
