Jeanne Marie Lindner Luby Carson was born in Cincinnati, OH on November 1, 1935. Her adoptive parents were George Lindner of Lima, Ohio and Madeleine Marie Christofoli of Montpellier, France, whom he met while stationed in Europe. Mr. Lindner tragically died when little Jeanne was only 4 years old.

In the years following his death, her widowed mother took her beautiful, talented daughter to California to audition for movies, without success. They returned to Ohio, where her mother married D.J. Van Sky in Lima. Although she was an only child, Jeanne maintained lifelong ties to her Ohio cousins and stepfather, as well as her extended family in France.

When she was a young teen, her mother took her to live in Corpus Christi, TX. Having always attended Catholic schools, she initially entered Incarnate Word Academy there but later transferred to Miller High School. At Miller, Jeanne was voted Most Beautiful by her classmates and later graduated in 1953. It was also during these years that she began dating J. P. Luby Jr. of San Diego, TX.

Jeanne was a straight A student who was offered an academic scholarship in New Orleans, but preferred to remain in Texas. Upon graduation, she briefly attended the all-girls Incarnate Word College in San Antonio. At the same time, she was voted to be a cheerleader for the then all-male St. Mary’s University in SA, while her fiancé J. P. was also enrolled there. He left school to enlist in the navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. However, prior to his discharge, Jeanne joined him there and they later married on April 7, 1956, in Mountain View, CA.

The Luby’s returned the following year to live in Corpus and start a family. James Patrick III was born in 1958; Jamie Patricia in 1959; Steven Mark in 1961; and Peter Hans in 1967. Having been a talented pianist and singer at a young age, Jeanne later pursued her love of performing by acting in plays at the Little Theatre Corpus Christi. Throughout the 1960s & 70s, she became a well-known and admired leading actress in musical productions at LTCC, where she achieved numerous acting and directing awards. Jeanne even co-founded a successful Dinner Theater several years later.

Jeanne always prioritized involvement in her children’s lives, and was active in civic, social and Catholic Church events. She also had a prominent role in the production of the annual Mardis Gras Ball. In addition, she supported J. P.’s competitive skeet and pigeon shooting events as well as his successful political career as a long-time public servant.

After her divorce from J. P. in 1977, Jeanne moved to Houston in 1980. There, she worked many years as Executive Assistant to the CEO of a prominent Hospitality firm. In 1989, she married Joseph Carson and relocated to Dania Beach, FL. There, Jeanne continued her work as an Executive Assistant to various CEO’s of large companies, and later, in retirement, worked as a beloved substitute teacher for Autistic elementary school children. She frequently returned to Texas for holidays and special events to be with her family and many dear friends, while always maintaining a constant presence in her children’s lives. One of the most treasured and blessed events of her life was the birth of her 2 grandsons, James Patrick IV in 2006, and Jacob Peter in 2009.

Jeanne was a devout Catholic who attended mass every week of her life until her illness precluded it. She embodied all that a truly good Christian should be. Through her perpetual kindness, unconditional love, and joyful, unselfish nature, Jeanne’s exceptional physical beauty was surpassed only by her extraordinarily beautiful heart.
