Jeff grew up in the 4th ward/Montrose area. He attended Lamar High School and graduated with his GED. He also attended The Way Bible College and graduated in June 2017 with an associate degree in Biblical Studies.
He volunteered and was active in Lakewood Church Celebrate Recovery and most passionate about his involvement at Open Door Mission. He loved serving the Lord, sharing his testimony, touching the lives of fellow men, and sharing with them that we serve a Lord who is patient in giving us second chances, not just one, but continued second chances. Jeff was passionate and honored to help bring God’s healing into men’s lives.
Jeff was committed to friendships and generous in his time, he quickly would help to drive a friend to an appointment, and there would be too long a list of how many times he helped someone move.
He was a competitive chess player, played the guitar and loved his Houston sports teams immensely. He never failed to sport team colors and wear a Team hat depending what time of year it was and what Houston team was playing.
Jeff is survived by his devoted friend MaryAnn Roman, his sister Jennifer A. Maldonado, son Jeffrey Jerome Garcia, Jr., daughters Stephanie Garcia and Nina Chapa, seven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother Olga Alice Jimenez.
Jeff never hesitated to share with anyone about Jesus Christ and to know God’s glorious miracles. He was passionate about the Lord and wanted everyone to have that personal relationship with the Lord. Jeff was most often heard asking “are you reading your Bible” and “read your Bible”.
Jeff and his dynamic, passionate personality will be truly missed; however, we are to know when we meet up again, he will welcome us with his generous smile and that twinkle in his eye.
