Jennie Soo Ngor Lee Gee went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 3, 2016, when she was 90 years young. Her spirit is carried on by her six children, her godson, fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Jennie was born as Lee Soo Ngor on July 5, 1925 in To Bui Village, Muh Chung Heung, Kwangtung, China. She was one of three children born to Lee Pok Loy and Yu Kam Sheung.
Jennie married the love of her life, Stanley Gwing-Chew Gee, on September 16, 1948 in Hong Kong where they immigrated shortly thereafter to San Francisco, California. After starting their family, Jennie and Stanley moved their growing family to Houston, Texas to open a family-owned grocery store with a relative. Together, they were blessed with six children. Jennie spent much of her time helping to run the family grocery store and raising their children. She was a strong and loving woman, teaching her children the importance of God, family, education and hard work.
In her later years, Jennie devoted her time to being active within her family and community. She loved being surrounded by her family and found joy in caring for her grandchildren. Her favorite times were holiday gatherings when everyone would come together and share laughter and good times. During her free time, Jennie enjoyed many hobbies such as dancing, bowling, playing mahjong, and being an active member of various family associations and other organizations.
Jennie is survived by her children: Melain and her husband Li-tsen Liu, Deanna and her husband Francis Lau, Irene and her husband Franc Lee, Judy Gee, Tony Gee and his wife Anna, Ellen Gee Clayton, and godson Louis Li and his wife Meelan; 14 grand children: Jamie Lau Fong and her husband Andrew, Edith Li, Stephanie Liu, Jason Lau, Jennifer Liu, Kristin Lau, Victor Liu, Megan Lee, Robert Clayton, Rachel Lee, Marissa Clayton, Kathryn Clayton, Kyle Gee, and Justin Gee; and 2 great-grandchildren: Isabelle Fong and Zoe Fong; and numerous nieces and nephews.
