Jerry never met a stranger.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, entering the Corps on his 17th birthday and fighting at Iwo Jima 6 months later.
Jerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, taking his Fourth Degree at the La Rabida Council #166 in Yonkers, New York. He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. After moving to Texas in 1991, Jerry was an active volunteer at Memorial City Hospital for several years. Later, he helped to prepare classroom materials for the students at Sundown Elementary School in Katy ISD.
Jerry had the gift of gab, a million stories (at least), a boundless sense of humor and a heart so filled with love that the hole his absence leaves in the hearts of those many dear friends and loved ones will never be filled.
His family wishes to thank the Paramedics of the West I-10 Fire Department as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of Christus St. Catherine Emergency Room.
From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to thank Dr. Victor Knopp and his devoted staff for their care and dedication to Jerry over the last many years; to Dr. Robert Salazar for his TLC and compassion towards Jerry; and Dr. George Mammen for his care and support. God Bless you all.
Heaven has an angel like no other. We love you, Jerry, and will miss you forever.
