It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected, yet peaceful, passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather (fondly known as Opa), on September 21, 2023, at the age of 74. He is survived by those who loved him most, including his wife Cheryl, their 4 children and spouses, Jessica & Terence Barnes, Rex & Jade Winters, Ronnie & Stephanie Winters, and Julie & Matthew Strom, and 12 energetic grandchildren - Penelope, Olivia, Knox, Ford, Rex, Norah, Sampson, Nash, Luke, Evie, Steele and Rose.

Born on May 30, 1949, Opa was a Godly man whose life was marked by love for his wife Cheryl, time with family, and a passion for the outdoors. He touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

His unwavering love and support were the cornerstones of our family, and his wisdom and guidance were cherished by all generations. He had an incredible ability to make everyone feel special and valued, creating lasting memories that will be forever cherished.

He was a man of immense knowledge and skill, crossing multiple industries and touching many lives. Outside of his professional life, Opa had a passion for being outdoors, whether it be fishing, hunting or woodworking. Over the past few years, Opa built furniture, chess boards and gave willingly to his grandkids, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all.

A celebration of Opa’s life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Second Baptist Church’s Chapel in Houston, Texas, followed by a reception. We invite all friends and family to join us in honoring his memory and sharing stories of the wonderful moments we had with him.

Opa, you will forever be missed, but never forgotten. Your love and legacy will live on in our hearts, and your spirit will continue to guide us through life's journey. Rest in peace, dear Opa. Until we meet again. With all our love, The Winters Family

A memorial service for Jerry will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, Texas 77057.
