She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Robert Preslar.
Jewel received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Houston on June 4, 1951. She began her career at Schlumberger until becoming a teacher with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) in 1962. Jewel retired from HISD after 28 years of faithful service.
She was a devoted member of Westbury United Methodist Church until 2005 when she relocated to the Woodlands, TX. In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Her hobbies were raising, breeding and showing Yorkshire Terriers amongst some gardening efforts when her time permitted.
She is survived by her son, William Leslie Preslar and his wife Phyllis; grandson, Adam Cole Preslar; son, William Robert Preslar, Jr.; son, Richard Dwayne Preslar and his wife June; granddaughters, Robin Leigh Preslar, Ashley Nicole Preslar, Jennifer Marie and her husband Tyler Kinney; great grandson Logan Matthew Kinney; sister, Elizabeth Jane Funkhouser and husband Bob; sister-in-law, Linda Smyth and husband Dale along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2019 in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road Houston, TX, 77077 with a Funeral Services following at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow immediately after Services.
