Jimmie Deland Burks

Jimmie Deland Burks was born on December 19, 1968 to the late JB Burks and Billie L. Burks. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership the late Pastor James. H. Fortune Sr. Jimmie enjoyed singing in the junior choir, junior usher board and playing the drums. Jimmie later united with New Birth Missionary Baptist Northeast in 2001, under Pastor Earnest Helaire Sr. where he became a devoted deacon.

Jimmie grew up in the fo-fo (44) Acres Homes and Graduated from Waltrip Senior High School. Jimmie attended Lone Star College and earned his CDL, this afforded him the opportunity to work, drive trucks and travel across the United States. To know Jimmie his true calling was to be on stage at some Improv telling a joke and making people laugh in his own way, he could take any situation and temper it with laughter. Jimmie knew where all the fishing holes were as he loved to fish, it was a well-known fact that Jimmie was a domino playing champ, grill master extraordinaire, befriended everyone he met and never met a stranger.

In 2014, Jimmie married his beloved Arressa Burks. Jimmie left a lot of people who loved him dearly and will cherish all of the moments. He leaves his wife Arressa Burks, Grandchildren - Viktor and Vittoria Ford, Logan Mallett, Mother Billie L. Burks; two brothers Antwon Burks (Rochelle); Jernard Burks; Sister LeQuita Burks and one nephew Jason R. Burks. Jimmie leaves a host of family members and many friends all whom he loved and cherished.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, JB Burks, his grandparents Washington and Maebell Burks; Jimmie and Lillie Brown. Jimmie departed on Wednesday 8/28/24, marked the beginning of his new journey with the Lord, through which he will continuously be a part of our lives.

A visitation for Jimmie will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, 8535 Green River Dr, Houston, TX 77028. The funeral will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM,. The committal will be held from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 West Montgomery, TX 77088.
