

Life and Legacy
On October 31, 1952 a handsome baby boy, Jimmie T. Forte’ Jr., was born to the proud parents Rena B. Garrett and Jimmie T. Forte’ Sr. in Houston, Texas. He was the first born of 10 siblings. Jimmie attended schools in Aldine ISD after moving with his grandmother and was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School, Class of 1973. While there he participated in football, baseball, FCA and was a member of the Royal Dukes. Jimmie was known as Jimmy Garrett through his high school days until his Father had his name changed to Forte. Jimmie continued to be very active with his alumni until his death.
Jimmie met his future wife Sharon Williams in high school. Oftentimes when
reminiscing about his time as a football player alongside Sharon’s brother “Charlie”, he would share when Sharon first caught his eye.
Jimmie was a firm believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was baptized at an early age at Mt Horeb MBC while attending with his mother. Later while living with his grandmother he was a member of New Jerusalem MBC and served as an Usher. He returned to Mt Horeb MBC where he actively served until he answered the call of the Master, remaining under the leadership of Pastor SamuelH. Smith. Over the years he served as an ordained Deacon, on the Usher Board, Male Grand Lodge (Malt Temple #95).
Jimmie was a hard worker and believed in providing for his family. He worked for
several companies which included Exxon, Cameron Iron Works and BFI. He was
with BFI which became Allied Waste Management for over 20 years as a Truck Driver.
Jimmy was currently working as a License Security Officer. He spent several years
with Gulf Coast Securities and presently with Weiser Security Services Inc. He was placed on a permanent position as Supervisor over the officers for the Crane Company LIEBHERR. Jimmie met and made many friends on and off the job. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He loved talking to the elderly. He also liked sharing the Word of the Lord. He enjoyed listening to all genres of music, loved to dance, and was an avid KTSU Radio supporter. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed all sports. He also loved to be well dressed, he believed in looking good when he stepped out which included a hat to match the outfit. Jimmie loved his family and friends and was known to call many daily just to check in.
Jimmie left his earthly home on January 25, 2021 to rest with the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his mother Rena B. Moore, his father Jimmie T. Forte’ SR,
his only son Byron R. Forte, his sister Jackie Johnson, brothers Lawrence Osbourne and Wilbert Johnson and newphews Brodrick Johnson and Joshua Johnson.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories and to carry on his legacy his devoted and
loving wife Sharon Forte’, daughters Shenekqua (Alvan) Ward, Decarion (Shonn)
Goddard, Grandchildren: Charissa Forte’, Aliyah Forte’, Brevin Forte’ and Bryon
Forte’, one Greatgrand daughter: Braelynn Steib; brothers and sister, James
(Marion)Johnson, Robert (Lou) Johnson, Etta Johnson, Lorie Johnson, Travis Jerome
(Sylvia) Moore Sr., Veronica Miller, Florita (Alonzo) Adams, Domasque (Shakia) Moore, Special Aunt Doris Allen, Uncles: Henderson (Dot) Garrett, OB Brown, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
