Jimmy proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, also serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. He later devoted his career to the DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. He was known for dedication, loyalty, and willingness to always help out, as well as his love of bass fishing and deer hunting - qualities that touched everyone who knew him.
A lifelong Houston sports fan, Jimmy rarely missed a chance to cheer for his Astros or Texans. He enjoyed going on lunches with his high school buddies. But nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren, Sadie and Ian, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra Archibald; daughters Stacey Archibald and Shannon McNeil; son-in-law Scott McNeil; grandchildren Sadie McNeil and Ian McNeil; brother Kenneth Archibald and wife Sharon Archibald; nephew Richard Archibald, partner Katherine Cobb, and great-nephew Logan Archibald; nephew James Chumley, wife Kathie Chumley and great-nephew Ty Chumley; niece Jena Spikes, husband James Spikes, great-nieces Jamie Cramberry, husband Dennis, and Jordan Spikes; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mildred Archibald; parents in law, James and Lucille Mainord; sister in law Barbara Chumley and husband Don Chumley and many close and beloved friends and family members.
