She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kathryn Comstock and nephew Shane Comstock. She is survived by her husband Curtis Chapline, daughter Lauren Chapline, sister Anna Harris, brother Timothy Gregg Engelking, and wife Constance and one niece and eight nephews.
Affectionately known as "Jo" to her family and friends, she lived life to its fullest. She grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School and earned her Bachelor of Art degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
In 1969 she married the love of her life, Curtis, and they moved to Houston. Sixteen years later, she gave birth to their only daughter, Lauren, whom she loves dearly.
Jo was a faithful servant to her Lord and family. In 1976 Jo accepted Jesus Christ into her heart and walked with Him everywhere she went. She was mindful and disciplined and relished her daily devotions and prayer time and could see the beauty of God in every situation. She saw God's love in the animals and plants, nurtured and cared for them in her home (she especially loved violets, lizards, and turtles).
Jo was always giving her love away to others. Her art abilities were used in her church and on the mission field doing chalk talks, painting murals, and making creative gifts. Jo especially loved writing God's word and using her calligraphy to encourage others.
Jo was always positive and loving and never met a stranger. She was an amazing cook and loved to spend time with her family and church family. She was young at heart and her niece and nephews loved her because she never grew too old to play games and have fun with them.
Her family would like to offer special thanks to her bible study group, other friends, and hospice that walked with her through her final journey.
