In life…Jo accepted Christ at an early age and attended Lewis Chapel CME Church in Lodi, Texas. She received her education in Marion County before moving to Jefferson, TX where she met Theodore Goynes. She had two sons (Theodore Jr and Norris Goynes) and one daughter (Gladys Casey). Jo later moved to Houston, TX and was employed with North Forest ISD Transportation Department until her retirement. She joined Grace Cathedral Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles H. Taylor. She was a faithful member until her health failed her.
In the end…Jo departed her life on Friday, January 14, 2022, and moved from her earthy tabernacle, where there is no pain, no weeping, no sorrow, and no disappointment to enter Glory.
Jo leaves to cherish her memories: sister, Doris McDuffey, two sons, Theodore Goynes and Norris Goynes, two granddaughters, Hattie Davis and Chiffon Brown, nine grandsons, Murry Crump (Lieka), Parish Goynes (Shirley), Zimman Casey, Terence Casey, Marquis Davis, Norris Goynes II, Shun Goynes, Twa-Mel Goynes (Linda) and Del’Leon Goynes, twenty great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents (CD Taylor and Hattie Houston Reed), stepfather Willie Reed, siblings (Louise Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, Jimmie Taylor, and Amanda Young), daughter Gladys Casey.
