Joan Vick Kleinecke, entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2020. She was born July 6, 1930 in Sweetwater, Texas to parents Bessie Lucille and R.B. Vick. Joan graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. She worked as an elevator operator at the Esperson Building and as a bookkeeper at Weingarten's and Waddell's Fine Furniture. After her daughters were born, she left the business world and dedicated the remainder of her life to being a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. Joan was an active member of Heights Church of Christ for over 50 years and held various offices at Burbank Elementary PTA. She was a creative woman whose passions included singing, sewing, painting, cooking, and flower gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering in various community activities, especially supporting any organizations or activities her children and grandchildren were involved in. In her early days of marriage she enjoyed boating and waterskiing with her husband and close friends. When her children were young she supported them by being a Girl Scout Cookie Manager over several years. As she matured, she loved entertaining friends and family by hosting get-togethers and 42 parties.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 66 years Leslie Kleinecke, her sister Doris Elaine Riley, and infant great-grandsons: Leslie Kleinecke Padilla II, Emilio Corral Padilla, and Joshua Gideon Padilla.
