Joan Marie Risinger passed peacefully in the early morning hours of June 28, 2016 at her residence in Pearland, Texas. She was born January 31, 1937 in Houston, Texas. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Bonnie Johnson and her great-grandson Jordan Young.
Joan met the love of her life, Carl Risinger, in Jacinto City and married him on July 16, 1955. She was an organized planner and home-maker for her husband and five daughters. Joan had a great sense of style and flair for fashion. She took great pleasure in coordinating her daughters' holiday dresses, which she sewed in the early years. In addition to her home-making skills, she had excellent business sense. After the girls were of school age, Joan became a certified income tax preparer and was a business partner in that field for a number of years. She was also very instrumental in the start-up of her husband’s masonry company. As her daughters married and grandchildren came along, Joan enjoyed putting her creativity and sewing skills to work making unique Christmas stockings, holiday apparel and many other specialty items for the family. Joan was very generous and expressed her love through giving. She was also quick to respond if she sensed there was a need.
Joan will be missed by her cherished husband; Carl, daughters; Bonnie Inglis and husband John, Deborah Pinder and husband George, Shelly Rivera and husband Elvis, Shelia Claxton and husband Russell, Karla Webre and husband Dwayne, twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, her loving sisters and brother, extended family and friends.
The family will receive visitors on July 3, 2016 from 3pm to 6 pm at Brookside Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on July 5, 2016 at 1 pm at Brookside Funeral Home.
