Joan Sherise Thomas St. Martin

Joan Sherise Thomas was born on April 3, 1968 in Port Arthur, Texas to Joseph Roy Thomas and Sylvia Marie Thomas.  Joan was the fourth child of six children to this union.   Joan was baptized at an early age of nine years old at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas.  There she served faithfully in the youth choir and youth activities where her father, Pastor J. R. Thomas, officiated.   Joan went on to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1986.   Joan was reared in Port Arthur, Texas until 1992 when she moved to Houston, Texas.  In 1995, Joan received her License of Cosmetology.  Later Joan went on to receive her formal CDL license and became an 18 wheeler Truck Driver.   Joan met the love of her life and married the late Hugh Frank St. Martin in 2012.  They were married for four years.  To this union no children were born.   Joan was employed with the City of Houston for one year until her health began to fail.   On Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM, Joan answered to her name being called from her heavenly Father.   Joan is preceded in death by her father, the late Reverend J. R. Thomas, Sr. (March 2008) and her husband the late Hugh Frank St. Martin (August 2016).   Joan leaves to mourn: her three children Shalonda Sherise Thomas of Houston, Texas, Raylande Derarde Chopane of Beaumont, Texas and Clevon Yelverton of Houston, Texas; mother Sylvia Thomas of Houston, Texas; five siblings Sylvia Thomas II of Houston, Texas, Joseph Roy Thomas, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Terrell Thomas of Houston, Texas, Carloss Dorsey of Dallas, Texas and Mildred Berry of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
