Joanne Louise (Miller) McBride

Joanne Louise (Miller) McBride, 79, of Houston, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday January 31, 2024. Joanne was a wonderful and beloved wife, mother, nana (grandmother), sister and friend who loved Jesus and her family and friends well. She will be greatly missed.

Joanne was born on July 21, 1944 to Earle and Gladys Miller in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Her family stayed in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country for her entire childhood, settling in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where she spent most of her childhood and grade school years. Joanne spent time working at the Hershey Chocolate Factory and graduated from Hershey High School in 1962 Joanne remained close to her Hershey friends, actively attending class reunions throughout her entire adult life. After obtaining her Associate’s degree from Hershey Jr. College, she moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1966.

Joanne worked at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Michael David McBride, Sr (Mike). Joanne and Mike were married in July of 1968 in San Antonio, TX and together they had two children, son Michael Jr. (Mickey) and daughter Melissa. After short stints in Ohio and San Antonio, they settled in the Houston area in 1974, where they stayed for good and raised their family. Joanne spent much of her time as a stay-at-home mother raising her two children along with spending some time working in the real estate field. Through the years, Mike and Joanne enjoyed being members of Metropolitan Baptist Church and Houston Northwest Church in the Northwest Houston Area. Joanne was passionate about her faith in Jesus Christ and spent a great deal of time at Metropolitan Baptist Church volunteering with the Youth Group and singing in the Adult Choir. In addition to being a wonderful Nana to her four beloved grandchildren, she loved spending time with family and friends. Mike and Joanne were happily wed for 54 years until Mike’s passing in early 2023.

Joanne is survived by her children, Michael D. McBride, Jr (Lisa), and Melissa McBride (Mike); 4 grandchildren, Ashlyn Cole; Lauren, Jack, and Connor McBride; brother Kerry Miller, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mike McBride, mother Gladys Miller, father Earle Miller, and brother Donald Miller.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday February 29, 2024, at Houston Northwest Church (19911 State Hwy 249), with a short reception/visitation afterwards.
