Joe, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Joe was born on June 11, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Josefina M. Alejandro and Jose Alejandro.
Joe attended John Marshall Jr High and Jefferson Davis High School. He entered the United States Army on October, 1968. He served with Company D, 4th Battalion 21st Infantry, 11th Brigade in Duc Pho, Vietnam. Also served with The Americal Division in Chu Lai, Vietnam. He received The Army Commendation Medal for Heroism on June 12, 1969 in The Republic of Vietnam. He was awarded
The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces in
The Republic of Vietnam, during the period of May 1969 to May 1970. He also received other Awards and Medals during his service with The United States Army. He was Honorably Discharged on October 1, 1974.
Upon his return home, Joe attended University of Houston, Downtown Branch “Cougar High” as he
affectionally called it.
Joe began his career at Shell Oil Company in July 1972 and retired on October 1991.
He became a member of Lakewood Church on January 1984 and was also Baptized at Lakewood Church. For several years he attended services at Garden Community Church at his retirement community.
Joe was a very generous man he helped many friends financially. He also supported multiple charities
for many years among those, The 100 Club, Texas State Troopers, The Sheriffs Dept. The Goodfellows, Toys for Tots, St Jude Children’s Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, Native American Charities and Jewish Charitable Organizations.
Joe is preceded in death by Stepfather Gregorio V. Zamot, Mother Josefina M. Zamot, Niece Karen James, Nephew Raymond Luna Jr., and Brother in Law Robert Alaniz (Bobby).
He is survived by his sisters, Rosa Fuentes (George) Elvira Chapa (Norman) Mary A. Luna and
Irma M. Alaniz. 7 Nieces and 7 Nephews also being Godfather to Nephew Marc Joseph Alaniz and Sonia Lozano.
Several Grand Nieces and Nephews and Great Grand Nieces and Nephews. One Maternal Aunt, One Maternal Uncle and numerous cousins and many close friends.
Joe was a Loving Son, Brother and Uncle. He will be missed by all who shared wonderful memories with
Him.
