He was born in Houston on the 7th of November 1931. He served in the Korean War and was employed with Mims Meat Company for 39 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Society. He made his presence known every day at his son’s restaurant, Piatto Ristorante, where he was proud to visit with customers. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his beloved birth mother, Nita Palazzo Carrabba; his father, John C. Carrabba; mother, Mary Carrabba Vento; and special grandparents, John C. and Bessie Palazzo, who raised him.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Carrabba; children, John Marion, Janice, Nita Jo, and Bill; precious granddaughter, Jessica Carrabba; brother, John C. Carrabba and wife Rose; sisters, Josie Marie Silvey and husband Bill; and Bessilyn Piazza and husband Frank. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and lifelong family friends, the Joe Turano Family.
The family would like to express special thanks to all of the angels who touched his life, especially Todd Caliva and the staff at West Houston Hospital, Gracie Hernandez, Sylvia Gomez, and Chippy Ordoyne.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from eleven o’clock in the morning until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 9th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock, led by Fr. T.J. Martinez.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 10th of January, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, where the Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Rossi is to serve as celebrant.
Honored to serve as pallbearers during the services are John C. Carrabba III, Luke Carrabba, Jimmy Dillard, Louis Ditta, John Matranga, Sammy Palermo, Frank Piazza, John Anthony Sicola, Frank Triola, Tony Triola and Nick Turano.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
